Permanent outdoor lighting is a set of app-controlled LED pixel lights mounted in a slim aluminum track along your roofline, soffit or fascia, and left up all year. The same lights give you warm-white accent lighting every night, colour displays for Christmas, Halloween and game days, and extra light around your home for security, with no ladders or seasonal hanging.

DIY kits are installed by the homeowner with clips or adhesive. A Prairie Lighting system is professionally installed in a colour-matched aluminum track and backed by a lifetime warranty on Pro pixels. The 30MM Pro pixels are:

• IP68 rated, where retail kits are commonly IP65–IP67
• True 2800K warm white (RGBWW)
• Rated for up to 100,000 hours of LED life
• UL and ETL certified
• Covered by a lifetime warranty, with 10 years on components and 2 years on workmanship

Yes. Prairie Lighting pixels carry an IP68 rating, which means they are fully sealed against water and dust. They are also UL and ETL certified for use in Canada, and they sit inside aluminum tracks that keep them straight through snow and ice. Prairie Lighting is based in Calgary and installs on homes that face Alberta winters every year.

You control everything from the free My Home Lighting app (iOS and Android), which connects to the Prairie Lighting Controller over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You can:

• Set on/off schedules and timers
• Change the colour and brightness of each individual pixel (16 million colours)
• Choose from 140+ preset scenes or design your own patterns
• Sync lights to music and split your home into zones
• Use Alexa or Siri voice control

Every system is designed and installed by the Prairie Lighting team or one of its authorized dealers. We serve Calgary and area, with service also available in Edmonton, Vancouver and Surrey. Authorized dealers serve homeowners elsewhere in North America. Installation includes a colour-matched track, concealed wiring, controller setup and an app walkthrough before the crew leaves. Workmanship is covered for 2 years.

Most Calgary installations cost between $1,200 and $10,000+, depending on the size of your home, how much roofline you light and how complex the install is. Typical installed prices:

• Small home or townhouse (up to 100 ft of roofline): $1,200 – $2,500
• Average detached home (100 – 200 ft): $2,500 – $4,500
• Large or two-storey home (200 ft+): $4,500 – $10,000+

Coverage starts from the date of your final invoice:

• 30MM Pro pixels (24V): lifetime warranty
• 30MM Regular pixels: 5-year warranty
• All other components (power supply, Wi-Fi controller, signal amplifiers, junction box, aluminum tracks, wires, connectors and fuse circuit): 10-year warranty
• Workmanship: 2-year warranty on installations by Prairie Lighting or its authorized agents

After the 2-year workmanship period, standard labour charges apply to replace a covered part. The warranty can be transferred once if you sell your home, and it requires a simple yearly maintenance check.

Very little. A 30MM Pro pixel draws at most 1.2 W at full brightness, and a Regular pixel draws at most 0.98 W. So 100 Pro pixels running at maximum use no more than about 120 W, which is less than two old 75 W incandescent bulbs. Schedules and dimming lower that further, so running costs are often just a few dollars a month.
